Shaun Bahn

Shaun Bahn

Personal Trainer, C.P.T.

Shaun was born and raised in San Diego CA where he was always encouraged by his parents to participate in sports. Spending most of his summers in soccer and baseball camps, Shaun grew comfortable in the team sport atmosphere and found baseball to be his sport of choice. Shaun played shortstop and outfield in the minor and junior leagues. In between baseball seasons, he picked up surfing at the age of ten when his father gave him a surfboard and pushed him into his first wave. Joining the surf teams in junior high, high school and college, Shaun found competitive surfing a good fit for his competitive drive. Shaun even joined the NSSA, which is the highest profile amateur competitive surfing association in the United States, and began competing all around the beaches of CA. Shaun moved to Santa Barbara to continue his degree at UCSB, and was introduced to the world of training by Mike Claytor who got him on a path to turn his passion for exercise and sports into a career. Now under the tutelage of Mike Claytor, Shaun has found a way to balance his life and his love of the water and training, through exercise and hard work in and out of the gym.

Client Testimonials

Once I considered myself a man. Full of life with an insatiable desire to exceed in everything I did. Mike changed all that. Now, I am merely a shell of the man I used to be fearful of everything I do waking up in the middle of the night in a full sweat crying like a school girl having been broken down by Mike and his sadistic group of trainers. Superman, once a beloved hero is now a menacing position torturing my body in an ungodly position. And Captain Morgan, once a dear friend providing social lubrication in awkward situations has been reduced to method of pain for my desensitized groin. If you’re feeling overly confident in life and have the desire to be humbled, I strongly suggest Mike’s program.

Ok so I am not getting any younger – pushing Medicare age.  I have been in the same 10 pound weight range for over 30 years – I have a FABULOUS designer wardrobe – something for every fashion/fad that recurs regularly.  But after working out with Mike for the better part of 5 years – first at a prior gym, and now at SB Training, not only does EVERYTHING FIT, but it fits better because I am tighter and stronger than ever…THEN, about 4 years ago I took up golf – I have been the most improved player at my Club in two of those 4 years, and now no one cringes when they find they are paired up with me – in fact in a rather high percentage of the time we win, as I generally play in competition better than my handicap…SO WHO SAYS THEY CANT SEE THE RESULTS!!!

Mike and his trainers have been working with our group for exactly twelve weeks. My initial goal was weight loss. However, during this time period I’ve not only lost weight and inches (2 inches in the waist)  but seen increases in strength, balance and an improved posture. Additionally, training at SBTraining is something I look forward to as each session is unique mixing in activities for strength, cardio, core stability and stretching. It has also been virtually pain free for my joints which has been an issue in the past.. Mike is an excellent trainer possessing an abundance of knowledge, a knack for motivating people while keeping things fun and competitive!

During the past three years I have been training with Mike, I have been able to improve my triathlon times, compete in longer distance events, and avoid injuries. The best part is that I have been able to do this without really increasing the amount of time I train each week – I’m simply training smarter and sticking to a consistent year around plan.
